Meet The Boosters
Rain Ramirez graduated from LFO in 2012 and is now a freelance artist living in northern Georgia with her daughter and fiance.
Jean is the mother of 3 LFO graduates; Angela '76, Sherry '79 and Christopher '81. All three enjoyed the Art program and still enjoy seeing the improvements each year to their Alma mater.
Jean and Charles, her late husband, took classes in the After School program. They loved the cut/stained glass class, as well as the pottery and ceramic classes.
Jean loves to cook, entertain, do crafts & color as well as sew. She just finished 10 pillow case dresses for children in Africa, a mission project through her church, Ft. Oglethorpe 1st Baptist Church. Jean was also recently ordained as a Deacon at Ft. Oglethorpe 1st Baptist Church. She stays very busy entertaining, doing yard work, gardening, knitting, quilting, and spending all the time she can with her 3 grand daughters. She can gourmet food as well as good ole' southern food. She loves birthday parties and celebrations; the bigger the better. Jean has been a hospital volunteer for over 30 years and still volunteers weekly at Battlefield Imaging. She attended high school at Ider Alabama and also took classes at Dalton Jr. College.

I'm a Math teacher here at LFO and have an 8 year old daughter in Open Studio. This class has allowed me to open my mind to alternate teaching methods in my classroom to incorporate both the left and right brain into practicing math. Art has given my daughter a way to express her thoughts and feelings constructively diminishing or at least lessening anxiety and insecurity. She is much more confident in and out of the classroom. Art has also shown her to break projets into smaller steps and to plan her work. We have seen tremendous growth in her, her teachers have as well!
Kristi Toland, a 1983 alumni of LFO, is a semi-retired Radiologic Technologist. She is married and has a daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys working with stained glass, hiking, photography, travel, genealogy, growing hostas and daylilies as well as dabbling in assorted art projects.
I have worked in many media from computer animation to stone carving. I have been working in clay and bronze as well as teaching ceramic arts for 14 years.
